Workshop Overview

A new perspective on design analysis, equipment selection, maintenance optimization and efficient operation of rotating equipment needs to be addressed and brought to the attention of the oil and gas as well as manufacturing industry. When dealing with rotating equipment, it is no secret that downtime is expensive. Regardless of the precautions you have taken and preventive maintenance practices you have implemented, sometimes problems develop, particularly with vibration. Therefore, this workshop aims to present techniques that will enable practitioners to diagnose, correct, and prevent vibration problems.

This workshop will also provide an excellent platform in gaining the theoretical understanding required to enable organizations to deliver the highest possible performance and reliability from your compressors, turbines, pumps and all other rotating equipment. This workshop is ideal for veterans as well as those with only a few years of experience as it will give all attendees a technical and practical understanding of the effects of vibration on rotating machinery health.

Workshop Facilitator Profile

He is the founder and President of DynaTech Engineering, Inc. and is currently responsible for the technical direction and business development of the company. He is an expert in the mechanical design and analysis of rotating equipment such as turbines, pumps, generators, motors, compressors, gearboxes, and cryogenic turbopumps. His career spans over 30 years focused on the dynamics of rotating machinery, including vibration analysis and the application of rolling element or fluid film bearings. He was the principal investigator on several US Air Force and NASA research projects involved with the development of rotor dynamics software, the successful demonstration of a 90,000 rpm oil-free bearing, the enhancement of a rolling element bearing analysis code, and the application of a unique damping treatment to a turbine airfoil. He is proficient in the acquisition, diagnosis and correlation of test data on machines for acceptance, troubleshooting, and resolution of vibration and noise problems. Mr. Greenhill is accomplished with commercial finite element programs such as NASTRAN for stress analysis and dynamic response used in design studies, fatigue life prediction, and failure investigations. He is a registered Professional Mechanical Engineer in California and a member of the Hydraulic Institute Vibration Committee (pump rotor dynamics standards).

Key Benefits and Features of Attending This Event

Capitalize on the expert knowledge to gain maximum value on these vital issues:

  • UNDERSTANDING what maintenance strategies are used in the industry – what is best for your equipment
  • LEARNING why vibration monitoring is important – how it can reduce repair and overhaul costs
  • DETERMINING what equipment is needed for vibration monitoring – only purchase what is necessary for your equipment
  • UTILIZING monitoring equipment effectively – how to obtain meaningful and reliable data
  • IDENTIFYING and solving vibration problems – interpreting what your machine is telling you
  • PREVENTING vibration problems through design analysis – avoid expensive problems with installed equipment
  • ASSESSING the various types of useful analyses – how much analysis is appropriate for your equipment
  • IMPROVING performance and mean time before failure (MTBF) through analysis – extend repair and overhaul intervals
  • SPECIFYING crucial supplier information for smooth machinery operation – eliminate expensive commissioning problems
