Summit - Asia Pacific Print E-mail

Overview

Recent developments have cast a cloud over the renewable energy business. The capital markets have turned risk-averse, making financing for alternative energy hard to come by. Declining oil prices make it harder for cleaner transportation fuels to compete with gasoline. In a slumping economy, governments will be reluctant to pass climate change legislation that will raise gas and electricity rates. Despite the dark clouds and lack luster sentiment, renewable energy is still seen to be the way of the future as businesses and corporations realize that the world is running out of fossil fuels and it is only a matter of generations when natural resources are completely depleted. Governments and businesses need to be constantly at the forefront of the sectors’ technology and policies in order to capitalize on market opportunities and socio-infrastructure eco-development.

Due to the speed at which the renewable energy market progresses, it is vital that businesses are kept up to date with technical advancements and industry trends. The World Renewable Energy Summit 09 will not only offer delegates practical advice on renewable energy, but will also explore the finance and investment opportunities for various commercial renewable energy projects.

The Venue

Malaysia is in the midst of developing the renewable energy (RE) action plan which will spell out in detail the way forward to increase market share of RE in the generation mix of the country. Among the key areas identified include biogas, biomass, solar and hydro for electricity generation in the country. This goes in line with the country’s five fuel policy which was formulated under the 8th Master Plan. (Bernama)

With the premise for renewable energy set for development, UNI Strategic is proud to be assembling a stellar cast of world renewable energy experts and authorities to lead industry foresight and stratagem in the 4th Annual World Renewable Energy Summit 2009 (WRES 2009).
