Workshop Overview

Intellectual property (IP) issue plays a very important role in the generics industry. In the coming 3-5 years, there are more than 30 drugs coming off-patent, which will open up serious competition from the generics drug innovators strive to protect their Intellectual property and product brands by extending patents, whilst generic manufacturers fight to capitalize on the new opportunities to gain more market share.  To adapt to this change in generic drug business, the pharma companies do need to be well equipped with the newest development in generic drug IP issues as well as the right business operation models.

This intensive two-day training course provides drug innovators and generic manufacturers with a comprehensive understanding of how to effectively manage the generic IP issues within their organizations. Upon completion of the session, attendees will gain a thorough understanding of all the business models and options possible for them to protect their brands and secure sustainable market growth of their generic products.


Trainer’s background

The trainer is an IP Strategist, Lawyer and Patent Attorney. He is currently running his own intellectual property strategy consulting firm .  Since 2005, the trainer and his firm has advised clients on intellectual property strategy in over 45 countries.  The firm currently has offices India and Australia and will add a presence in each of China and the US.  
The trainer is a Fellow of the Institute of Patent & Trade Marks Attorneys in Australia and a Principal Fellow at the Melbourne Business School where he co-teaches ‘Strategic Management of Intellectual Property.’  He is also an Associate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors and an Associate Fellow of the Australian Institute of Management.

He is also co-author of “Patents, Trade Marks & Related Rights” and “ Australian Patent Law”
