The Trainer is a Professor of Mechanical Engineering with expertise in Turbomachinery and Centrifugal Compressor Technology. He has extensive experience in operation, experimental investigation and design of gas turbines and centrifugal compressors. His experience in this field for over twenty years is documented in over one hundred technical archival publications and he was the major supervisor for fifteen Ph.D and twenty-one Masters graduate students. In recognition of his achievements, he has been honored as Fellow of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME), NASA Fellow, Best Journal Paper Award, and Keynote speaker at two major ASME conferences. His lab is considered to be one of the best of its kind in the USA. He often lectures and offers short courses in the area of Turbomachinery and Centrifugal Compressor Technology at other university, industry and utility. He server as external examiner on PhD defense and examinations in Europe.
As an expert in turbomachinery industry, he consulted Honeywell, Capstone Turbines Inc., Borg Warner, Delphi Automotive systems (Ford Explorer and similar SUV fuel pumps), Pump Engineering Industry and The Gas Institute. He also serves as a book reviewer and proposal/scientific-document reviewer in the area of Turbomachinery for McGraw-Hill, ASME, Dekker, Department of Energy (DOE) in the area of Turbomachinery, Gas Turbines & Turbocompressors, and various professional organizations and publishers. Moreover, He designed and built a four-quadrant test facility for centrifugal pumps with variable speed and fully automated data acquisition. His work on four quadrant tests and tip clearance losses has been widely published and is often referred to by both academia and industry.
