Key Strategies in Selecting the Most Suitable Control Valves in Practical Settings Regardless of Suppliers

Workshop Overview

Control valves are the final control elements in the operation of plant. Therefore, plant efficiency is directly affected by nonperformance of the valves, either in terms of output or in terms of reliability and availability. It is claimed that a majority of control valves are incorrectly sized, which negatively impacts performance. Furthermore, there is a bewildering range of choices for end users – globe, butterfly, eccentric disc, ball – even before the user must decide according to other factors such as materials, actuator type, rangeability and other characteristics.

This workshop aims to teach the following:

  • Theory of control valves
  • Types of control valves
  • Control valve characteristics and trim
  • Process considerations
  • Actuators and positioners
  • Digital valve controllers
  • Control valve performance

This workshop will incorporate both theory and practical strategies. The latest educational methods and strategies will be employed including videos and real case studies. Delegates will maximize their benefit from the outset and the course will provide opportunities for participants to discuss with the presenter and others specific problems and appropriate solutions.

Facilitator Profile

The course facilitator is a Senior Process Manager with over 40 years of in-depth industrial experience in the Oil & Gas industry with several international companies, where he has occupied significant positions such as Business Development Director, General Manager, Operations Manager, Production Manager, Plant Manager, Field Manager, and Process Engineer.

He is an expert in a wide range of areas including Process Control, Troubleshooting, Shutdown, Turn-around, Research & Development, Project Planning, and Implementation of Process Systems. He is currently the Managing Director of a prestigious company actively involved in chrome chemicals and he has been actively involved in trainings and lecturing in South Africa, Southeast Asia and Middle East.
