Workshop Facilitator Profile
Facilitator was voted the 1994, 2002, and 2004 outstanding professor of the year. He is listed in Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers (1996).
He has over 35 years of combined experience in operating companies like Chevron, Mobil Nigeria and various esteemed universities. His technical interests include wellbore stability in shale formations, drilling optimization, cementing, well completion and production engineering. He was a recipient of a 5-year ($325,000) research project from the National Science Foundation (NSF) Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) program in 1995.
He has authored and co-authored more than 77 technical papers in SPE, JCPT, ASEE, other journals, and numerous reports. He was a member of the SPE Well Completion Technical Committee (1997-1999), SPE Drilling Operations and Equipment Technical Committee (2003-2006) and the SPE Drilling Design and Management Technical Committee (2001–2006). He had also co-chaired several technical sessions at various SPE convections.
He holds BS (1st class) from Nigeria and MS and Ph.D. from University of Texas in Austin, all in petroleum engineering. He is a registered professional engineer in the State of Texas and a member of SPE of AIME, American Association of Drilling Engineers (AADE), and American Society of Engineering Education (ASEE).
He is a seasoned instructor at drilling courses. He was ranked first by a major oilfield service company for service quality excellence in overall instructor experience (i.e. delivery, course materials and learning experience) in May 2006.
