Workshop Overview

Practicing the art of cost engineering means walking a fine line between theoretical knowledge and practical experience. This intensive 3-day workshop will provide delegates with knowledge of cost estimation and cost control. The first day will set a common platform on which delegates will have a consensus of the various terminologies used throughout the workshop and the approaches towards: cost estimation & cost control and learn the way in which these fields interconnect.

The second day will focus on factor estimating which can help provide a good estimate of project costs before all details of the project are known. This allows delegates to make appropriate decisions needed for the future of the projects. Various methods are available for factor estimation and will be covered during the workshop. Exercises will be conducted to allow delegates to apply all the principles learnt and effectively apply factor estimation to their projects.

A good quality estimate is the first step to keeping the cost of projects within budget. Cost control is a natural follow-up for the estimates. The last day of the workshop is intended to help delegates achieve greater grip on the success factors of the project by executing proper cost control. There will be several exercises inspired from real project situations and is intended to allow delegates to put their knowledge gained into practice.

This workshop has been designed to aid delegates in managing the costs of their projects with good, accurate estimates and effective cost control preventing cost overruns which is a huge bane in the highly volatile economic situations.
